Using Linux on Windows for Web Development

This Guide will help you set up your windows computer as a development machine using Linux.

After reading this guide, you will have the following tools installed on your machine:

  • The "Windows Subsystem for Linux" (WSL2) with Ubuntu
  • Terminal
  • git
  • VS Code with the ability to use WSL

1 Why use Linux on Windows?

In the last three decades web development tools were mostly developed for UNIX systems: either for linux or for mac os.

With "Windows Subsystem for Linux" you can use all these tools and still keep using your gaming pc.
